August comes to an end as we look back over three months of garden glory at The Old Manse/  Annie's Place.

Having planted out our bedding flowers and staked every herbaceous plant in the previous month, June arrived and we were ready for visitors: Annie's Place garden was to be part of the 2017 Orkney Garden Trail.

Our small garden faces out to Canada across the broad Atlantic ocean, so we experiment to see what plants can resist the salt in the air; and short summer nights mean fast growing flowers.

All was calm and sunny on our first ever Open Day, and visitors including Kirkwall, Stromness and other parts of the world enjoyed viewing Annie's Place Garden, contributing over £200 to the Charity.
