Yesnaby is famous for its spectacular cliffs, Castle Stack and wonderful waves, especially in less clement weather! But that is not all that makes it a worthwhile destination for visitors.
Yesnaby is one of the rare environments where the Scottish Primrose can be spotted in early Spring and again in July. It thrives in this part of Orkney and a careful search reveals the tiny but hardy pink petals of this beautiful flower which only grows in certain parts of northern Scotland. BUT...be careful when searching that you do no damage with your feet (or doggie's paws!) and please resist the temptation to take a sample; it is unlikely to thrive away from its native soil and must be left so that all who visit the area, now or in the future, can enjoy its beauty.
