Swanning around in Birsay Bay, Orkney

The swans are back for spring capers in Birsay Bay and guests in our self catering accommodation have already been counting them from our shoreline bench. Today there were 45! The swallows have also started to arrive with two dashing back and forward along the shoreline while gannets could be seen constantly diving further out to sea. Springtime in Orkney for Easter holidays

Visitors to Annie's Place this springtime can enjoy the golden fringes on many Orkney roadside verges thanks to the marvellous displays of daffodils which thrive at this time of year. Annie's Place garden also has its springtime display. Yesterday to celebrate Mother's Day we went with the family to Kirkwall and after a lovely lunch in Locano"s restaurant we walked in the garden behind the Kirkwall Museum. The photos below
