Watch these swans as they surf the waves in Birsay Bay just off the shoreline at our Annie's Place gate. Keep watching as three fly across the Bay and then return for more high jinks in even bigger waves. Awesome!

This is the best video I have taken of swans which arrive in Birsay Bay every year at the end of February and stay until end of June/early July. No one has yet given me a clear answer as to why they come....the freshwater burn running in from Boardhouse Loch is clearly an attraction for their feeding needs, but I wonder if this is actually high romance? Coud these be young unattached adults coming to the local "dance hall" to have fun and pair up for life? I like to think so!
