It's the middle of January and Scotland is snowbound as we prepare to travel up to Birsay tomorrow. That makes us think ahead to our summer garden at Annie's Place, our self-catering property looking across Birsay Bay. The garden which our guests enjoy from May to October will be ablaze with summer flowers: bright marigolds, marguerites, crocosmia ......and Snow in Summer, a lovely border of white which falls across our garden wall.

Last year we opened our garden to visitors for the 2017 Orkney Garden Trail as part of Scotland's Garden Scheme and for 2018 we will again have our pop-up garden open to visitors to Birsay Palace, to support our chosen charity, Music in Hospitals and Care, which celebrates its 70th Anniversary Year.

Meanwhile we must set out north up the A9 to Scrabster, thinking ahead to summer sunshine and our white Snow in Summer in all its glory.
