Good news for all visitors to Orkney this summer;  Historic Environment Scotland (HES)  have been given permission to convert premises in nearby Stenness into a new visitor centre for Maeshowe, including improved car parking arrangements and on-site signage. A reminder of summer broke through the cold and windy Orkney midnight hour at Palace village in Birsay as we greeted the New Year, 2017.
