The seabirds love high tide on Birsay Bay, especially on a stormy day; the waves smash onto the seaweed disturbing insects which float on the tide for the birds to gobble up as each wave ebbs and flows. Storm Ali has taken its time in descending on Orkney. Here in Palace, Birsay, the storm did not arrive until late yesterday afternoon after tearing its way across the trees and transport networks of mainland Scotland. Since then the rain and wind have been pelting our garden and windows ....YET....interspersed with beautiful blue skies and sunshine....enough to tempt us and our self-catering guests out to view the Brough and Birsay

Our self catering guests appreciate that we keep Annie's Place in tip top condition; this includes our garden gate and shoreline bench on Birsay Bay. Robin has been busy reparing the garden gate and developing garden walls and BBQ garden. I keep the weeds under control around the shoreline bench as well as thoughout the garden. Some photos below demonstrate our efforts!
